Two British women, likely best friends, in a nation struggling to salvage the Modern day Michelangelo from the ashes of creative genius, grow into spiritual enlightenment, trying desperately to break the shackles, but still pursuing the sprit of life. Holly and Shirley Yanez, two women from Yorkshire England, embark on a journey to Los Angeles and in a moment of temporary insanity, end up marring good looking brothers and life changes in a split second. The marriages end. The money runs out and the women find themselves with only an art collection from days gone by and an American express card, perfect for a small business start up.
They open an art gallery in Manhattan beach, California but don't sell one single piece in almost a year but something amazing does happen, the women found themselves a genius. A Russian Fresco master, one of five in the universe, starving to death in a place called Inglewood, desperate to start a Fresco school and in need of some exposure for his work.
The challenge is on, as the women from Yorkshire set out to catch the attention of Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and other high profile Hollywood royalty, to persuade them to help start The First American Fresco School. Sounds simple but what actually happens is far from simple and they end up enticed, embraced and embedded in the fabulous world of Miramax Films with no money, no plan, no clue but as always, a solid purpose.
Getting to a man like Harvey Weinstein is not as easy as one might think, even with good James Bond skills and gold Gucci high heels but with relentless faxes, emails and love letters to their hero, the women finally break in to his world and their fantastic journey begins.
Follow their dream and be prepared to laugh out loud, as their internship in Hollywood has them pitching, bitching, bothering and blagging everybody from Disney to MTV but what happens when all hope is dashed, all doors firmly closed and all money spent? Does Hollywood close ranks, mask all their pain and force them out of town or can the women dig down deep and somehow convince Harvey of their good intentions.
As the women prepare to leave for England with their self published memoir, it is finally dawned on top executives like Michael Eisner and Robert Iger, this hilarious and fascinating story actually happened and the little pink treasure Looking for Harvey Weinstein shows a clear view of the fall of Miramax from the cheap seats.
Whether it has anything to do with the fall of Harvey Weinstein has yet to be seen but the women believe he will rise again like the phoenix. Outsiders have shown interest in the film rights as book sales increase, with Harvey Weinstein at the helm, this story is destined to become the greatest buddy, farcical, satirical comedy this century, if by this century one means 2005.

We started this Eco Warrior lifestyle three years ago after coming back from Hollywood homeless and penniless, with one suitcase and our self published book called Looking for Harvey Weinstein. Having lost Millions almost overnight in the 2000 stock market crash being penniless was something we both had to face head on, not an easy task for two Women who had lived up the luxury lifestyle like veterans.Suddenly we had no money to buy fabulous clothes, expensive lotions and potions or gourmet food.

Our lifestyle on, £50 per week, was about survival and finding new ways to rebuild our lives, not an easy task even for hard nosed business Women like us. We began by looking in charity shops like Oxfam and Scope as a way to source cheap clothing and to our delight uncovered a big secret. If you dig deep and stay focused, these shops have many hidden treasures. We found everything from Chanel to Christan Dior at Primark prices without the slave labor issues, at the same time help support amazing causes and it was not long before recycling became our passion for fashion. Kitting out our bare home was a mission but with a little creative flare, some visits to the local skip and unwanted trash thrown away by others, our home suddenly transformed into a comfortable shabby chic Aladdin's cave.

Buying food to last for a week on a budget of £10 was tough, we lost weight always a positive and discovered through trial and error all the top tips on how to eat for less. It is amazing how many things you can do without money from Hair care, suntan, make up and even luxury holidays on a tight budget. It was not long before our ability to pull of a budget lifestyle and still look like Millionaires was inspiring others to follow suit. Building a business on a budget was the next goal as we set out to get a platform on TV to share our insight with others and at the same time help save the planet We started swapping parties for Women everywhere to come together and trade their unwanted designer cast offs with other Shopaholics, creating a new wardrobe without spending a dime.Our passion has taken us all over the map from pitching the BBC four hundred times our passionate plea for a platform, to budget fashion presenters on The Trisha Goddard Show channel five.

We are styling people everyday from our Eco fashion studio in a converted textile factory in Countesthorpe Leicester using fantastic recycled fashion items fit for the sex and the City wardrobe. Fashionista Versus Stylista: Stop Shopping and Start Styling

For those amongst us, dare I say it, with a shopping addiction, giving up a twenty a day habit is preferable to never setting foot in a shopping mall again. Take it from us, the people who put the word "shopaholic" in the O.E.D. But like any bad habit when the fix is temporary and only leaves you wanting more money for more wardrobe space and ultimately more shopping you can do one of only two things;
Die under a mountain of unworn clothes and final demand notices or
Learn how to work with what you’ve got.
Styling is a basic skill that appears to allude many of us in the U.K. We have chosen to shop till we drop instead, the fashion industry’s answer to reaching fashionista’s nirvana, the place celebrities in magazines tell us they go in between rehab. Despite the rising cost of everything the price of clothes is actually lower than twenty years ago, one of the key factors keeping inflation statistics unrealistically low, a phenomenon attributed to either volume sales of ignominious proportions, slave labour or likely a combination of both.

The TV gives us our weekly dose of fashion shows which all talk of styling without actually delivering any concrete "how tos" (got to keep those advertisers happy) and the constant use of "on trend" and "must haves" puts us once again firmly in that subliminal, inescapable shopaholic matrix.
So if, like us, you are sick of being a slave to the fashion industry’s rhythm but could never swap your stillettos for sneakers, unless you’re exercising of course here’s what you do. Firstly learn these two simple rules.

Rule Number 1.

STYLE EQUALS CONFIDENCE, STYLE DOES NOT EQUAL FASHION

STYLE IS FREE, FASHION IS COSTLY

Then sort out your clothes into seven groups. Tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, shoes, bags and accessories. The largest group should always be accessories (hats, belts, jewellery, hosiery, scarves, hair clips) as they fit you on fat days, take up minimum storage space and last a lifetime.
Beware, the single largest mistake when it comes to styling is too many clothes and not enough accessories. The desired ratio accessories to separates is 3:1.
Now find a look in a magazine you love and have a go at copying it piece by piece. It doesn’t have to be exact, copy colours if you can’t match shapes or visa versa. By experimenting with what you have you’ll start to recognise duplicate items are pointless when it comes to styling as are things that don’t fit. For each outfit you style add at least three items from your accessories. It is these additions that make your look unique to you. As you work gaps in your wardrobe will start to appear. When you do decide you deserve a little retail therapy, resist the temptation to be drawn to the High Street and do what every savvy style guru does. Pick up your individual must haves, aka another shopaholics mistakes, from our style studio without spending a penny. With living costs in the UK on the up and up and pressure in the celebrity driven media to sport the latest designer labels it is becoming increasingly difficult for style conscious Brits to maintain fashionista status while balancing ever tightening household budgets.
Two local authors and business women, returned home from California faced with the task of looking a million dollars for a media and promotion tour on very little cash, found an unexpected friend in what might be described as the British High Street’s best kept secret.

Of course these retail establishments have been around for decades but even today the age old stereotype of ladies in cardigans selling musty old clothes is hard to shake. Recent news articles have declared charity shops are turning over huge profits, so who is actually shopping there? This is a tough question as few admit to ever setting foot in one.
Holly and Shirley Yanez, Countesthorpe, had to buy a whole new, much warmer wardrobe, starting from scratch. Putting together a celebrity look to wow a BBC TV producer was their challenge. The maximum budget available per outfit was twenty five pounds.
After exhausting all the usual shops, they discovered in the seven years they’d worked in Hollywood, prices had shot up significantly. They’d be lucky to pick up a t-shirt each on the sale rack in French Connection for their twenty five quid let alone a whole outfit including shoes. So they turned their attention to; the charity shops.
They were surprised by how many there seemed to be and how particular stores like Age Concern, Blaby were paying attention to clever and creative window dressing. With increasing media attention on World Poverty and humanitarian aid organizations, charities like Oxfam have invested heavily in the profile of their brand with a large TV advertising campaign and their retail chain employs professionals along side volunteers to run the shops more cost effectively. Long gone are the days of flogging what the poor no longer want or the dead no longer need. Those grotty, dingy shops offering not much more than shelter from the cold have been replaced by bright, clean retail spaces with clear signage, spacious changing facilities and new fixtures and fittings. Admittedly some are better than others, depending on who’s running them so you need to be prepared to explore a little to find your own favorites.
There are 12 or more charity shops in Leicester City Centre ranging in feel and quality, Scope, High Street is young, trendy and slightly higher priced and Oxfam has an excellent bridal range. If you are prepared to go a little further a field Loros, Loughborough and Oxfam, Market Harborough are designer shoppers paradise, offering a large selection of nearly new (and sometimes new) clean, pressed and colour coordinated seasonal clothes, lingerie, shoes and accessories.

Some of the larger stores also offer furniture and household goods. The Loros, Oadby is decidedly boutique like with a stylish and keen staff and if you fancy a massive spree and a real day out for 12.00 pounds return on Midland Mainline, London’s shopping mecca, The Kings Road, Chelsea hosts more charity shops than you’ll have time to experience in one afternoon.
The women admit it can be hit and miss and some days you just won’t find anything but these charity shop crusaders have sourced treasures that include a Gucci satchel, 3.50 (approx retail 250), a Christian Dior jacket, 8.00 (approx retail 650), a moschino swimming costume, 5.00 (approx retail 200) and a Austin Reed, cashmere overcoat, 12.00 (approx retail 450). These bargains were great but style is definitely not just about designer labels according to the women. Cut, workmanship, fit and condition are the all important factors when selecting those key pieces. The clear message for today’s charity shoppers if you’ve got a keen eye and love a bargain you don’t have to compromise on chic.

Holly bought black and white pinstriped jacket 4.00. Juicy couture jeans 3.00. Black Onyx cross, 3.00 pounds. Black velvet 70’s cap, 2.00 pounds. Black Armani T-shirt, 2.00 pounds. Red and black tartan belt, 2.00. Black Dolce and Gabbana jumper with flared 70’s sleeve. 4.00 pounds. Black suede thigh length boots. 4.00 pounds.
Whole Look Total Cost: 24.00 pounds.
The woman now swear by their local favorites and wouldn’t shop anywhere else, Ok well maybe Primark but only if absolutely necessary. As authors of Looking For Harvey Weinstein, a style conscious, gossipy expose of celebrity and Hollywood itself, they won’t buy into trinkets for trinkets sake, or trinkets at all unless they used to be somebody elses. For the charity shop crusaders, clothes and style are a synonymous necessity but a big part of shopping for them is about doing something good and giving a little back. After experiencing and overcoming some significant personal setbacks themselves, they believe when what you wear can help, why not recycle the wealth.

Swapping is a big part of our lifestyle. We always have loads of things to swap as people are always giving us things. We furnished our whole house with goods either given to us, (fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer) rescued from skips, (sofa) the tip, car boot sales and charity shops.

There are several great websites like Freecycle.com where you can find all manner of things. We swapped a 46" colour TV we were given for a job lot of expensive cosmetics we are still using and a diamond ring for our car, a 20 year old Fiat which we've had 16,000 miles out of to date without one break down. We have swapped work on the car at our local garage for help with PR, we used a contact to get them some local press. We had a website built in exchange for style/makeover consultation and swapped life coaching for a DVD burner and software. We have swapped yoga lessons for food with a hotel in the Caribbean and regularly host swap parties for clothes to revamp our wardrobes for free. People are often kind and help us for which we usually give a copy of our self published book which we have stock of.

25th July, 2008 Countesthorpe, Leicester- Holly and Shirley, the nation’s frugalista queens of fashion announce a shift in their corporate strategy today as the world is not ready to go cold turkey when it comes to tackling their addiction to retail therapy, despite the credit crunch.
As ex head-hunters who made millions in the City Of London they know the key to any successful business is first to identify a market. It is a amazing how many Women love a bargain. We had another amazing turnout at our Marriott Hotel budget makeover event where we did another fantastic transformation this week.

All the clothes we use to help everyone get that Hollywood look for less come from our Style studio, are recycled and will not break the bank.

Here we are in Cardiff with our fashion and style budget makeover roadshow. It was a great Evening with 250 fabulous Eco fashion ladies crammed in the Suzuki showroom.

We did some great mini makeovers with the help of celebrity make up artist Tina Young and a full makeover on one lucky lady hand picked from the audience.

The show lasted for one hour and everyone who took part got to keep the fantastic designer clothes and accessories. How great is that?
